Community Service
Each resident must perform a minimum of 40 hours community service. Most do significantly more. Teams and individuals have shoveled snow, provided home care during a new mothers first week, cleaned houses and churches, moved households, stayed overnight with the sick, and more.
Our Standard
Col 3:23 - And all things, anything whatever ye may do, work from soul as to the Lord and not to men.

“If a man does not work, he shall not eat.”Biblical Principles For Reasons To Work
If we do not work, we will
not have surplus. If we do not have surplus,
we cannot be generous to others. We are to love others and put their
needs above ours. Without work, we cannot do that. If we do not work,
we will be a drain on others. In fact we will become servants of
others. If we do not work, we depend upon charity and government
assistance. If we are able to work and instead we live on charity, we
rob others who really need it.Work is medicine to man’s soul. Health suffers when a man doesn’t work.
Psalms 92:4 For thou, LORD, have made me glad through thy work. I will triumph in the works of thy hands.
Psalms 104:23 Man goes forth to his work and to his labor until the evening.
Laziness and slothfulness is ugly in God’s eyes. Idle time is the playground of Satan.
Proverbs 12:24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule, but the slothful shall be put under task work.
Proverbs 12:27 The slothful man roasts not that which he took in hunting, but the substance of a diligent man is precious.
Proverbs 18:9 He also that is slack in his work is brother to him that is a destroyer.
1 Timothy 5:13 And also at the same time they learn to be idle, roving the houses, and not only idle, but also bab bling and meddlesome, speaking things that they ought not.
Men are called to provide for their family. If they do not they are worse than an unbeliever.
Psalms 28:4 Give them according to their work, and according to the wickedness of their doings. Give them after the operation of their hands. Render to them their recompense,
1 Timothy 5:8 But if any man does not provide for his own, and especially those belonging his household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
Who was the first man that worked? Adam. Tending the Garden. Work was given to us by God. The rest on the seventh day comes AFTER six days of work. The command starts out that we shall work six days.
Exodus
20:9 Six days thou shall labor, and do all thy work,
10but the seventh day is a Sabbath to LORD thy God. Thou
shall
not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy man-servant,
nor thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is
within thy gates,Exodus 23:12 Six days thou shall do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shall rest, that thine ox and thy donkey may have rest, and the son of thy handmaid, and the sojourner, may be refreshed.
If we do not work, we cannot worship God with our offerings as we will have none. God cannot use someone who will not work.
1 Thess 4 :10 For ye are also doing it toward all the brothers in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brothers, to abound more, and to aspire to live quietly, and to do your own things, and to work with your own hands, just as we commanded you, so that ye may walk properly toward those outside, and may have nothing lacking.
2 Thess 3:10 Even when we were with you we commanded you this, that if any man will not work, neither let him eat.
Proverbs 19:15 - Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep, and the idle soul shall suffer hunger.
1 Cor 10:31 - Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
Prov 10:4 - He who works with a slack hand becomes poor, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.
Ph 2:3 - Do nothing according to selfish ambition or empty conceit, but in humility considering each other surpassing yourselves.
